Russia deploys anti-missile radars

(Xinhua) Updated: 2014-02-14 17:23

MOSCOW - Russia had deployed anti-missile radars along its borders, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Friday.

The early-warning anti-missile system, a network of radar stations, would enhance Russia's air-space defense, Shoigu said.

The radars were capable of efficiently and pro-actively countering missile threats, he said, adding one of the stations was located in the east of Russia.

Earlier this week, Shoigu claimed Russia's nuclear capabilities were the most modern in the world and the country was completing the construction of more military enterprises.

Russia started the construction of a high-tech command and control center to oversee the military in January.
