BEIJING -  Kuang Wanfang, an economic crime suspect, was repatriated to China on Thursday thanks to close cooperation between Chinese authorities and their US counterparts.

The woman fled to the US in 2001 and is suspected of taking part in corruption and bribery, according to a statement of the office in charge of fugitive repatriation and asset recovery with the central anti-corruption coordination group.

The move followed the forced repatriation of Yang Jinjun, one of China's most wanted economic fugitives, from the US on September 18.

Kuang was convicted and jailed in the U.S. before she was repatriated.

A statement said the repatriation of Kuang marked another important move for anti-corruption cooperation between China and the U.S..

Authorities will launch a comprehensive investigation into Kuang's case, it said.
