The ongoing cold snap will bring a temperature drop, gale and snowfall to most of northern China before Nov 23, according to the weather report released by the national weather forecaster on Nov 19.

With another cold front expected to pass through the country from Nov 25 to 27, the China Meteorological Administration warned local authorities to prepare for the cold snap to avoid economic losses and guarantee power and heating supplies.

Traffic departments should also issue timely alerts for icy roads and fog to warn drivers of the sudden temperature drop.

The weather report said the cold air will drag down the temperature by up to 12 C across the country, with accompanying strong winds before Friday.

Meanwhile northern China will get mild to medium snowfall, and southern China is expected to get heavy rainfall.

A fresh cold snap will pass through the country from Xinjiang to the eastern regions after Nov 25.
