Continuous drought plagues SW China province
The bed of Yuanhu Lake is exposed because of the continuous drought in Shilin county, Southwest China's Yunnan province, Feb 20. Some 6.3 million people are affected by the water shortage that has plagued the province, leaving 2.4 million people and 1.6 million livestock lacking drinking water since Feb 16. According to statistics, the average rainfall from December 2011 to January 2012 was only for 31 mm, 16 percent less than the same period in previous years. [Photo/CFP]
