Two dogs put to death for fatal attack

A veterinarian tries to anesthetize a caged dog using a special syringe at the New North Zone of Southwest China's Chongqing municipality, August 2, 2011. The dog was one of a pair that killed one man, He Wei, and injured another, surnamed Wang. The dogs, kept by a man named Yu Junshi, who lived in a villa at the New North Zone, attacked two men when they visited Yu's property on July 30 at the invitation of the villa's housekeeper. Local police ordered the dogs to be euthanized; however, one of the pair had already been sent away by Yu and is believed to have been killed on Wednesday. It is not the first time the dogs have attacked people, which has caused tension in the neighborhood. After talking to the dogs' owner, police made the decision to kill the dogs to prevent another similar tragedy. [Photo/CFP]
