Tomb prices rise in E China
The vast landscape of Jiufeng Cemetery Park in Qingdao, East China’s Shandong province, where some tomb prices have trebled can be seen in this photo on March 30, 2011. The cemetery holds a large building in the style of ancient monumental archway, stone and waterside pavilions.
Cemetery listings show that according to the tombs’ location, prices will go from 32,800 yuan ($5,002) to 96,800 yuan ($14,762). Sales staff said the higher priced tombs have a better view. Since 2008, management fees at the site range from 1,200 yuan a year for a tomb lower than 20,000 yuan. 1,600 yuan for tombs priced between 20,000 and 50,000 yuan, and 1,900 per year for those priced in excess of that.
