If you have an iPhone, flip it around and read its back. It says “Designed by Apple in California Assembled in China.” Manufacturing workers in Foxconn were working day and night to just ASSEMBLE this phone and to deliver it to the world. What about DESIGN? That happens at the headquarter location of Apple in Cupertino, California.
UK is one of most international countries, attracting tens of thousands of foreigners each year who come to study and to work.
Right after graduation from university in 2008, I was lucky to find a job based in Dubai – the city famous for fantastic buildings. During my stay in Dubai, I didn’t feel any Sinophobia sentiments at all, but the locals are more and more satisfied with Chinese products.
My Brazilian colleague Carlos is a knowledgeable gentleman. Despite the difference in language, complexion and culture background, we find no awkwardness in initiating a conversation, sometimes even a philosophical one.
Sinophobia does exist in history and today. In history, foreign powers demonized China as the so-called “yellow peril."
