About 40 million Chinese mainlanders visited Hong Kong last year and this volume overwhelmed the city's capacity to receive tourists. The great benefits mainland visitors create only go to a small number of tourism-related industries, but most local residents have to shoulder the inconvenience caused. Employment positions created by the multiple-entry travel policy is only limited to some low-income service industries and the policy does not contribute much to Hong Kong's GDP.
