Officer ensures students take exam

An entire class of students from Yucai Middle School, whose teacher had left their ID cards in a hotel room, were only able to take their national college entrance exam on June 7 thanks to the actions of a police officer. The teacher realized he had forgotten the cards at 8:08 am, when he made a frantic call to the police. With little time to spare, a motorcycle rider was dispatched. After dodging through rush-hour traffic and running several red lights, he managed to retrieve the cards and deliver them to the students before the start of their exam.

Pregnant woman hits out on subway

A pregnant subway passenger hit another woman in the face with a thermos flask following an argument in Dalian on June 11. The incident happened at about 9:30 am when the pair boarded the train at the city's Xi'an Road station. The victim, who witnesses said had told the pregnant woman that she would have a miscarriage, was left bloodied by the assault.

Siblings scale wall to tiger enclosure

Three siblings who attempted to sneak into Changsha Ecological Zoo by climbing into the tiger enclosure had to be rescued on June 11. The Xiangtan natives, surnamed Cao, were caught as soon as they scaled the wall. They climbed the wall despite a large sign saying not to do so, and were later referred to the police.

Passengers injured as coach overturns

Eight passengers were injured when a coach overturned on a highway in Guangzhou on June 7. The accident took place at 6:37 pm when a male passenger tried to grab the steering wheel after having an argument with his wife on board. The man said he did not want to go on living. The coach was traveling from Lingshan in the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region to Dongguan. The injured were later discharged from hospital after receiving treatment.

Bridesmaid falls to death from balcony

A 22-year-old bridesmaid, surnamed Luo, died after falling from a fourth-floor balcony in Foshan's Shunde district on June 13. Police said the incident took place in Jun'an township at about 2 pm when Luo, a native, is suspected to have fallen from the balcony after being pushed by the best men, who accompanied the bridegroom to the bride's home to take the bride to the wedding banquet. Luo, who had recently graduated, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Police have launched an investigation.
