Society: Jack Ma greets new students at Hupan College

Hupan College, a school for entrepreneurs established by Alibaba founder Jack Ma and eight other leading business figures, began its third term in Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on Monday. Forty-four entrepreneurs from different industries were admitted as students for the new semester, plucked from 1,080 applicants, which makes the college's acceptance rate 4.07 percent. Located in the West Lake scenic area, the college was established in 2015. According to Ma, Hupan College will be open to global entrepreneurs in the future.

Art: Emerald 'Han Imperial Feast' dazzles Kunming

A table full of delicious Manchu and Han courses was presented in Kunming, Southwest China's Yunnan province, recently. But these saliva-inducing delights were not edible. The dishes, including Peking duck, braised fish and sliced chicken, were the work of carving master Zou Wantong who spent a decade creating a feast of 50 Chinese dishes out of emeralds. The bill was also more expensive than most diners could afford as the work cost up to 1 billion yuan ($146 million). Zou's works are so lifelike that the color and texture of the dishes are almost good enough to eat!

Travel: Fuyuan karst caves in Yunnan open to public in July

The Fuyuan karst caves in Yunnan province, stretching 4.2 kilometers, feature many wonders of nature, not least rarely seen stalagmites, with the highest reaching 8 meters. At the entrance of the caves stand four naturally formed bridges, their height ranging from 6 to 25 meters. The karst caves were discovered last century by villagers, and a protective development plan has been implemented since April. It is expected that the scenic spot will open to the public in July.

Culture: Finger painter depicts beauty of Guizhou

Using only his fingers as brushes and traditional Chinese rice paper as a canvas, 53-year-old Chen Yuxiang began a four-year project in 2015 to create a scroll painting depicting Guizhou province. He is halfway through the huge undertaking. When finished, the 100-meter-long ink scroll painting will include about 100 scenic spots in the province. Chen has visited more than 70 of them in the past two years to reflect the beauty of these natural landscapes.
