Suspicious parcels to officials seized

Greek police have found and seized eight more suspicious parcels believed to contain explosives, local media reported on Monday. The newly netted parcels were like the two packages sent to the German Finance Ministry and the Paris office of the International Monetary Fund last week. The eight packages were confiscated at the Greek post office's sorting center in Kryoneri, near Athens. Counter-terrorism experts are investigating the case.

Students die in waterfall tragedy

A rainstorm toppled trees onto people at Ghana's Kintampo Waterfall, killing at least 19, most of them students who were visiting and swimming at the tourist site north of the capital, officials said on Monday. Early reports had blamed Sunday's disaster on a single large tree and estimates from local officials on the number of dead had varied during the day, ranging from 17 to 20. As of Monday night, the bodies of 16 bodies had been recovered at the waterfall.

IRA rebel-turned politician dies at 66

Martin McGuinness, the Irish Republican Army warlord who led his underground, paramilitary movement toward reconciliation with Britain, and was Northern Ireland's deputy first minister for a decade in a power-sharing government, has died, his Sinn Fein party announced on Tuesday on Twitter. He was 66. The party said he died after a short illness. McGuinness recently stepped down as deputy first minister.
