Ecologists gather at Eco Forum

The Libo Sub-Forum of the Eco Forum Global Annual Conference Guiyang 2013 will be held in Libo from July 20 to 22. More than 15 ecologists from 10 countries, including the US, Great Britain, Russia, Egypt, India, Kazakhstan and Mongolia, along with 17 well-known experts and academicians, will gather in Libo city to discuss the problems and solutions of protecting world heritage in developing countries, including legal and political references to governments and protectors.

The sub-forum will be themed "challenge and exploration for developing countries in protecting world heritage". It will discuss several topics from political and scientific perspectives, including the overview of world natural heritage protection and ecological civilization construction, the practice of world natural heritage protection and ecological civilization construction in developing countries, the global comparative analysis of Chinese world heritage protection and ecological civilization construction, and the opportunities and challenges of Chinese world heritage protection and ecological civilization construction.

In recent years, Libo has made great achievements in improving environmental quality and promoting economic development by adhering to the principle to "prioritize protection, develop scientifically and exploit sustainably". Libo has also proposed ideas "prioritizing prevention in core areas, combining prevention and management in buffering areas, and emphasizing management in peripheral areas". It adopts protective construction measures, protective development measures, protective management measures, and protective infrastructure construction measures in core areas, buffering areas and peripheral areas.

Min Luming, the county Party secretary of Libo, said,"I hope the sub-forum will raise concerns around the world, especially from developing countries, and speed up the development of the low-carbon industry in Libo."
