BEIJING - Senior officials of the Communist Party of China (CPC) have urged provincial Party leaderships to further promote a campaign to boost ties between the Party and the people.

The one-year "mass-line" campaign was launched in June by China's leaders to bridge gaps between CPC officials and members and the general population, while cleaning up undesirable work styles such as formalism, bureaucracy, hedonism and extravagance.

Members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee attended provincial Party leadership meetings in recent days.

The meetings came as the first round of the campaign is coming to an end and with second-round work to be carried out soon.

Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, joined a  Hebei provincial Party leadership session on December 9 and Li Keqiang later attended a session of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Zhang Dejiang took part in a Jiangsu Province leadership session, and Yu Zhengsheng attended a session of Gansu Province. Liu Yunshan, Wang Qishan and Zhang Gaoli joined sessions of Zhejiang, Heilongjiang and Sichuan provinces, respectively.

During these meetings, standing committee members of provincial Party committees reported the fruits of the first round of the campaign, primarily focusing on rectification, implementation and the establishment of rules and systems.

Standing committee members of provincial Party committees said positive achievements have been made in curbing extravagance and misuse of official cars.

Top leaders called for more efforts in rectifying problems found in the first round of the campaign so as to better serve the goal of "comprehensively deepening reform" which was announced after a plenum of the Central Committee of the CPC in November.

According to senior officials, the campaign has entered a crucial stage, with them asking Party leaders at all levels to consolidate the fruits and further promote its achievements.

The campaign includes various stages, including special sessions for officials to launch criticism of colleagues and themselves, rectification of problems, and inspection teams to supervise the results.

The senior officials also asked for innovation and improved work styles, urging Party leaderships to be brave in resolving deep-rooted and new problems and fully prepare for the second round of the campaign.

They also asked officials at various levels to show zero leniency to any violations of Party discipline and regulations.
