Art troupe head faces bribery investigation

The head of a government-run art troupe has been dismissed and placed under disciplinary investigation, China National Radio reported on Thursday.

Zhang Chengxiang, head of the Coal Miners’ Art Troupe, which is affiliated to the State Administration of Work Safety, is being investigated on suspicion of bribery, the administration said in a statement.

Investigators found that Zhang received more than 13 million yuan ($2.1 million), $130,000 and 25,000 euros ($33,570) in bribes when he was director of the provincial coal mine safety authority in Heilongjiang, the statement added without elaborating.
