The 7th Session of the International Senior Economic Consultative Conference of Shaanxi People's Government was held on Thursday to speed up the transformation of Shaanxi economy from investment and resources-driven to consumption and innovation-led.

With the theme of cooperation, development and win-win for building a new Shaanxi of power, prosperity and beauty, 46 consultant units talked with Shaanxi provincial official and entrepreneurs about the economic turn-around and acceleration for the province's development and opportunity and provided their suggestions.

Hai Zhu, the global vice-president, chairman and president of Schneider Electric (China) Co Ltd and also a consultant invited by the provincial government, said that Shaanxi has very good foundation of traditional manufacturing and information industry and has talent advantage, which can provide more opportunity for the development of the province as well as its partners.

"My firm employed more than 200 high level researchers in the province in the past 12 months and our research building will be completed at the end of this year.

The government's service and efficiency is good so that our project developed so fast only one year after we signed the contract," the Schneider president said.

Shaanxi established such international consultation mechanism for economic development in 2002 in order to effectively absorb and learn from the advanced experience of international economic development and successful practices for speeding up the local economic development.

The conference was held every two years.

From 2002 till now, the consultative units had invested 69 projects with more than 55 billion yuan ($8.97 billion) and the consultants provided 264 suggestions for Shaanxi's economic development.
