China now receives more complaints about online shopping than any other subject, and the number of complaints has risen sharply at a time of burgeoning online trade, professionals from consumer rights advocacy groups said.

Cases involving online shopping across the country hit the top of the complaint list, according to the latest statistics from China Central Television (CCTV) in March.

Complaints about online shopping mainly focused on fake products, substandard quality and poor after-sales services, according to the report, which did not give specific numbers.

Other major complaints included express delivery, automobiles, food, broadband network services and mobile products, as well as false advertisements, according to the report.

The final complaint list is scheduled to be released in the annual "315 Evening Gala" consumer watchdog program on CCTV on March 15, international consumer rights day.

The program aims to reveal business misconduct and has helped consumers fight for their rights since 1991.
