An exhibition featuring 101 Chinese relics from the past 5,000 years is to be staged in Istanbul, Turkey.

"Treasure of China” will be held at the city’s Topkapi Palace from Nov 20 to Feb 20.

The exhibition is part of the ongoing Chinese Culture Year in Turkey and is the first of its kind initiated by the two country’s governments.

"We hope to offer a glimpse of China’s 5,000- year civilization and an enjoyable visiting experience for the Turkish people,” said Yao An, deputy director of Arts Exhibition of China, who helped curate the exhibition.

Curators spent more than a year selecting exhibits from major museums in Beijing, Shanghai and Shaanxi province, including the Imperial Palace Museum, Shanghai Museum and the Qin Shi Huang Terracotta Museum, Yao says.

Among them are colorful pottery from the New Stone Age, terracotta warriors and horses from Xi’an, stone- carved Buddha statues from the Tang Dynasty (AD618 to 907), when the Silk Road connecting China and Turkey was in its prime, and glazed plates used by the imperial family in the Qing Dynasty (1644 to 1911).
