China Telecom Corp Ltd, the nation's biggest fixed-line operator by revenue, expects its global business unit to post sales of 10 billion yuan ($1.6 billion) this year, according to the company's chairman.
China Telecom's overseas business has seen rapid development, especially after the company set up a global business subsidiary - China Telecom Global Ltd - in August, said China Telecom chairman Wang Xiaochu, in an exclusive interview with China Daily on the sidelines of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
In 2011, China Telecom had revenue of 6.7 billion yuan from its global business unit.
