Versalis opens Asia HQ in Shanghai

Versalis, the chemical division of Italian energy company Eni, marked its entry into the Asian market by launching its Asia headquarters in Shanghai on Sept 12.

Two newly established companies, Eni Chemicals Trading and Versalis Pacific Trading, will cover Versalis' clients in Asian countries including China, South Korea and Japan .

Based on a new plan focused on internationalization, Versalis aims to strengthen its position in emerging markets by leveraging its technological and industrial expertise.

"We've seen the emerging automobile market in China with an increase in the demand for elastomer in producing tires," said Versalis CEO Daniele Ferrari.

Ferrari added that the two companies are also looking to shift toward high performance and radial tires to meet the country's increasing requirements in terms of energy efficiency, comfort and safety.
