The family of the taxi driver killed in an accident involving a sports car in Shenzhen agreed to get a compensation of 950,000 yuan ($148,754) from Xu Chuhui, the sports car owner, the Daily Sunshine newspaper reported on July 13.
The families of the other two victims said they were not satisfied with the compensation amount, the report said.
On May 26, the driver of a sports car crashed against two taxis, killing one of the taxi drivers and two passengers in one of the taxis. The sports car driver fled the scene.
The accident became a nationwide sensation when the public questioned whether the man that turned himself seven hours after the accident was just taking the blame for another driver.
At the time, Shenzhen traffic police held four successive press conferences and showed evidence confirming that the driver, surnamed Hou, was a staff member at a company owned by Xu.
According to the Daily Sunshine, the 950,000 yuan compensation includes death compensation, funeral expenses and mental injuries compensation. Xu also paid for the 50,000 yuan lawyer's fee.
