Chinese automaker Zhejiang Geely Automobile Holdings plans to integrate its operations around the country and adjust its product portfolio in a bid to increase competitiveness amid the market slowdown.

As a first step, it will begin to move operations for its Englon brand from Shanghai to Xiangtan, Hunan province, by the end of this month, according to Shanghai Securities Journal.

Zhejiang operations in Luqiao and Ningbo will be moved to Jiaojiang and Chunxiao, respectively, and its Linhai factory will go to Duqiao.

After consolidating its manufacturing bases from seven to four, Geely will change the production location of three brands - Emgrand, Englon and GLEagle.

The revolution in the production sector is a response to Geely Chairman Li Shufu's appeal to use new manufacturing facilities with competitive standards on a global scale to develop and produce vehicles, instead of using outdated operations. Sustainable development is the aim of the homegrown automaker, which is in fierce competition with foreign brands.
