Six stores of Hanfu Supermarket, which is owned by Carrefour in Wuhan, were fined by the city's pricing bureau for price irregularities, the Changjiang Daily reported.
Another shopping center was also fined for pricing irregularities in the bureau's action, which started in April.
During a sales promotion at Hanfu Supermarket's Er'qi store, which lasted from April 28 to May 3, an Oiwas bag was priced at 129 yuan ($20). However, the bag was being sold at 119 yuan on April 26. The store was fined 100,000 yuan.
The Hanyang, Hongshan, Jianshe, Shisheng and Guanggu stores - all owned by Hanfu Supermarket - were all punished for faking high original prices and then giving small discounts during the promotion.
The "100-day anti-illegitimate pricing action" will last until July.
Meanwhile, the Wuhan pricing bureau also publicized 10 cases of price fraud on June 17. The 10 cases include irregularities with prices, discounts, price reductions and specials.
