Police in East China have asked the public for clues about a red Dongfeng truck that they believe is connected to a metal fragment that pierced a windshield and killed bus driver Wu Bin last month.
"I am not the only one that could not fall asleep at night," Cao Jianping, deputy battalion chief of Wuxi’s traffic police, said at a press conference on Tuesday.
Cao said that all traffic police officers in Wuxi have been mobilized to track down the truck.
Police believe the 3.5-kg piece of metal was part of a brake hub that fell off another vehicle. More than 3,000 automobiles have been screened.
Police asked the public to alert them if they saw a red Dongfeng truck with a broken braking hub, and urged the driver of the truck to contact police.
Wu, 48, protected his passengers after being critically wounded by the metal fragment.
