MANILA - Nine Chinese and two British nationals were rescued from a yacht that sank off in northern Philippine province of Batanes, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Tuesday.

The PCG said that the foreign nationals on board the "Tipsy Frenz" yacht was on a sailing match from Hong Kong to Taiwan when it sank on June 3.

A passing Hong Kong cargo ship "Easy Success" which was on its way to the Philippines, rescued the foreigners.

The PCG said that its vessel BRP Nueva Vizcaya will meet the cargo vessel at the entrance of South Harbor in Manila and will bring the Chinese nationals to its headquarters.

"After medical check-up and documentation, the survivors will be turned over to the custody of Chinese embassy representatives," the agency said.
