I was offered a job at China Daily back in March, while I was working in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The benefits seemed better than what my current job offered at the time, and I really liked the idea that I would be closer to my daughter, who lives in Malaysia. I also relished getting back into journalism, a business that I had left behind a few years ago to teach English as a second language overseas.

One of the pleasant aspects of working at China Daily in New York is sampling some of the delicacies that pop up in the office, either when staffers return from China or when the goodies are cooked right here.
China's version of Halloween is celebrated on Thursday. During the Zhongyuan Festival (Ghost Festival), people burn paper money as sacrifices to please the spirits.
