KIEV - Brazilian forward Alex Teixeira is set to move to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning, his manager at Shakhtar Donetsk confirmed on Thursday.

Shakhtar have accepted a transfer fee of 50 million euros to send Teixeira to Jiangsu Suning, Shakhtar boss Mircea Lucescu told ESPN Brazil.

Luscescu said Shakhtar would await to officially announce the move until the Brazilian had signed all his paperwork for his new club.

If the deal has gone through, it will be biggest transfer deal of the year so far.

The Brazilian, who turned 26 last month, will link up with compatriot Ramires at Jiangsu.

Teixeira will become the latest player to move to the mega rich Chinese Super League in the biggest transfer deal of the year so far.

Daily Mail reported earlier the deal is worth around 35 million pounds (46 million euros). Anyway, the fee will eclipse the 32 million pounds (42 million euros) Guaghzuo Evergrande paid Atletico Madrid for Jackson Martinez this week and the 25 million pounds (33 million euros) paid to Chelsea for Ramires, becoming the biggest buy ever for Asian clubs.

English Premier League clubs Chelsea and Liverpool were also chasing Teixeira, who has been playing in Ukraine since moving from Vasco de Gama in his homeland in 2010.

Jiangsu are managed by former Chelsea full back Dan Petrescu.

Chinese clubs have so far spent 251.0 million euros in the current transfer period - which runs until February 26 in China - while English clubs splashed out 285.9 million euros before the European window closed on Monday, according to the transfermarkt website.

The second-tier China League One ranked ahead of the Bundesliga in Germany, Spain's La Liga and France's Ligue 1 for spending.
