LONDON - A Big Dance Week across the world from July 7 to July 15, as part of the celebration for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, was announced on Monday in London.

In Beijing on July 7, 2000 dancers will gather on the Central Square of Beijing Olympic Park to take part in the Big Dance to celebrate the legacy of the 2008 Beijing Games, and the coming London Games.

Dancers will do the same in Brazil's Rio de Janeiro, the next Olympic city in 2016.

Documentaries made of the Rio and Beijing events, will be screened at the finale of the Big Dance Olympic events in London's Trafalgar Square on July 15.

Tamara Rojo, global ambassador for Big Dance and the principal ballerina of London's Royal Ballet, told Xinhua that the Big Dance is the "biggest" part of Cultural Olympiad.

"It involves dance activities from everywhere and from all kinds of dance, folklore, classical ballet, breakdance, hiphop, everything you can imagine," Rojo said.

"It is happening not only all around Britain but around the globe through all this summer. So it is something that will hopefully inform you about dance but also entertain you and attract you to the art form," she added.
