Water conservancy and hydropower planning and design and new energy development

POWERCHINA has participated in the design and construction of many world-renowned water conservancy and hydropower projects, including the South-to-North Water Diversion Middle Route Project —— the world's largest and longest water transfer project, and the Xiaolangdi Water Control Project on the Yellow River ——China's key Yellow River development and management project, which makes China the world's leading hydropower country. The company also created a precedent for the contracting model of domestic large-scale hydropower projects and made breakthroughs in domestic hydropower Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) projects.

Sudan Merowe Hydropower Station on the Nile River —— the world longest river retaining dam with a length of 9.8 km and a total installed capacity of 1,200,000 kW, won the Luban Prize for Construction Project. Soubre hydropower dam, the largest of its kind in Cote d'Ivoire, was put into operation ahead of schedule. Uganda's 600 mW Karuma Hydropower Project was the biggest cooperation project since China and Uganda established diplomatic relations over five decades ago. Malaysia Bakun Hydropower Station is the first overseas project to be granted the National Quality Engineering Golden Award. Ecuador's Coca Codo Sinclair Hydropower Station has withstood a 7.8-magnitude earthquake.

POWERCHINA is the principal compiler of China's wind energy resource survey and the major reviser of industrial technical specifications and practices on the state level, and it not only lays claim to the leading technology in project planning, design and construction of wind power, solar energy, biomass energy, distributed energy sources and supporting projects of nuclear power, but is also adept in market and resource integration. It has planned, designed and participated in the construction of nine 10,000 mW wind farms, including the Gansu Jiuquan wind farm; invested and contracted the 400,000 kW Jiuquan plant in Gansu province, the 200,000 kW Zhangbei plant in Hebei province, and the 200,000 kW Rudong Offshore wind plant in Jiangsu province. It completed the first domestic 100,000 kW PV power generation project, China's first tidal power station, and participated in many nuclear power plants in Guangdong Daya Bay and other places. The corporation has formed a complete technical service system, technical standard system, and scientific and technological innovation system in the field of hydropower and clean and renewable energy, perfectly illustrating the nation's competitiveness. It has the national energy strategy service capability and internationally leading technical service capabilities.

Thermal power and power grid

POWERCHINA has taken the lead in such areas as the 1,000 mW grade thermal power project (with ultra-supercritical technology, double reheat and direct air cooling technology), new energy source projects including gas turbine, wind power, solar energy, biomass energy, distributed energy resources, nuclear power plant and 1,000 kV voltage rank AC/DC power transmission and transformation projects.

It has designed and constructed China's first 1,000 mW intelligent ecological power plant—Laizhou Power Plant in Shandong province, the world's first 1,000 mW coal-fired air-cooled unit—Ningxia Lingwu Power Plant, Phase II of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps Agricultural Construction Sixth Division's 2×1,100 mW project —— world's largest ultra-supercritical air cooled unit with the largest stand-alone capacity.
