Eighty-five classic pieces by artist-turned-social activist He Xiangning will go on display for a month in memory of the 15th anniversary of the founding of He Xiangning Art Museum in Guangdong province's Shenzhen.

He (1878-1972) married senior Kuomingtang statesman Liao Zhongkai and followed her husband to Japan, where she met Sun Yat-sen and devoted herself to the revolutionary movement.

The artist is known for her paintings of plum blossoms, pine trees, lions and tigers. Many contain political connotations. Plum blossoms and pine trees thrive in winter. Lions and tigers are fierce. Such associations symbolize Chinese people's strength in the war years.

10 am-5:30 pm, until May 20 (closed Mondays). He Xiangning Art Museum, Overseas Chinese Town, Nanshan District, Shenzhen. Exit C of Overseas Chinese Town subway station, Guangzhou. 0755-2660-4540 or 0755-2691-8118.
