World Kitchen, a 100-year-old American kitchenware brand, has finally arrived in Beijing.

Its sought-after Visions series, which includes glass pans, pots, and saucers, is known for resisting thermal shock.

Vision comes to town

An interesting story of just how strong it is that in 1950, World Kitchen's mother company, Corning Consumer, came up with a special glass-like material that was used in the missile heads used by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. This same material was later used in Visions.

In 1913, World Kitchen put out its Pyrex series, the first kitchenware made of glass that could withstand high temperatures. In 1950, the CorningWare series of pots came along, becoming famous the world over. In 1970, the three-layer glass series Corelle was introduced and quickly became popular for its legendary strength, light weight and break resistance. Now, all these products can be found in town.

The brand is not just about technology but also style. The Sakura line of plates, bowls, spoons and cups, for example, comes in delicate patterns of cherry blossoms that is sure to add a touch of elegance to any dinner table.

World Kitchen says its prints are 100% safe, having been certified by the US Food and Drug Administration to be free of any poisonous materials.
