A blackout comedy that's a knockout film

Hong Kong director Pang Ho-cheung, who's known for his urban romantic comedies, produced Lacuna, a tender version of The Hangover.

The story begins the morning after a one-night stand between Tong Xin, a personal assistant to a director, and Shen Wei, a designer.

They wake up on the bed of a furniture shop and remember nothing about the previous night. Tong loses her money and Shen can't find his car. So, they spend the next day together trying to recover their memories, money and the vehicle.

Mainland actress Zhang Jingchu and Hong Kong actor Shawn Yu play the leading couple.

The film leads viewers to Beijing's fanciest karaokes, restaurants, nightclubs and pubs.

The plot is hilarious and crazy. While it reminds many of the hit US film The Hangover about three men's wild blackout night in Las Vegas, it's a romantic tale at its core.

Pang worked as the producer, while two young Hong Kong directors - Derek Tsang and Jimmy Wan - directed the film.

It premieres on June 1.
