Wu Xia has a strong showing at box office

Hong Kong director Peter Chan's latest film, Wu Xia, has grossed about 100 million yuan ($15 million) since it premiered on July 4.

The film has also raised some controversy, however. In a meeting with fans on July 14, Chan and lead actor Takeshi Kaneshiro tried to give answers to some queries about the plot.

But when one fan said a device used by Kaneshiro in the movie, set in 1917, was not in use at that time, Chan replied filmmaking is not history, but nevertheless said he appreciated the question.

Chan also revealed a two-minute action scene of Kaneshiro's had been removed from the final cut in theaters.
