Folk singer Dao Lang will kick off a "Thank You" concert tour after years of hiatus, with the first gig at Beijing's Wukesong Arena on May 21.

The news was announced by his company at a press conference Thursday, March 31.

The singer will give a non-stop performance of over 30 of his most popular songs as well as a rendition of red revolutionary songs in a tribute to the 90th anniversary of the Communist Party of China.

Dao Lang stepped away from the limelight after fame and has kept a very low profile in the past few years. He used a song written for his fans, "Thank You", to name the concert tour, wishing to express gratitude for people who supported him over the past ten years.

The grass-root Sichuan singer, whose real name is Luo Lin, made a name with his distinctive husky voice and unique songs featuring a heavy ethnic flavor of Uygur music in Xinjiang.

He was not so well known until the release of the hit song "The First Snow in 2002", which helped him gain nationwide popularity in 2004.

According to Dao Lang, he still worked on music during the hiatus period.

After Beijing, the singer will perform in Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
