'How to Train Your Dragon' rules DVD sales chart

LOS ANGELES  - "How to Train Your Dragon" debuted at No. 1 on the national DVD and Blu-ray Disc sales charts on Wednesday.

The DreamWorks Animation hit would also have been the top rental during the week ended October 17 had it not been released last Friday instead of the traditional Tuesday. Instead, it opened at No. 3, behind reigning champ "Karate Kid" and "Iron Man 2."

The only other new release to make the top 10 on either Nielsen VideoScan sales chart was the box office bomb "Jonah Hex," which came in at No. 5 on both tallies. It also debuted at No. 13 on trade publication Home Media Magazine's video rental chart. The comic book adaptation earned just $10.6 million in theaters during the summer.
