LOS ANGELES - "Men in Trees" star James Tupper and "Iron Man's" Clark Gregg are moving on to penguins in penthouses.
The actors have been cast in the Fox family comedy "Mr. Popper's Penguins," which stars Jim Carrey and Carla Gugino. Mark Waters ("Mean Girls") is directing.
Based on the book by Richard and Florence Atwater, "Penguins" follows a high-powered businessman (Carrey) who inherits six penguins that completely disrupt his life and swanky New York apartment.
Tupper is playing Rick, the eco-fanatic boyfriend of Popper's ex-wife Amanda (Gugino). Gregg will play Nat Jones, a no-nonsense guy from the New York Zoo.
The project, currently shooting in New York, will be released on August 12 by Fox.
Tupper starred on the short-lived NBC series "Mercy," and has had recurring roles on "Grey's Anatomy" and "Samantha Who?" On the film side, he last appeared in "Me and Orson Welles."
Gregg most recently appeared in the "Iron Man" movies and "(500) Days of Summer." He will reprise his "Iron Man" role of Agent Coulson in Marvel Studios' upcoming "Thor."
