LOS ANGELES – Sixty-five countries, including first-time entrants Ethiopia and Greenland, have submitted films for consideration in the foreign-language film category for the 83rd Academy Awards.
The films range from Canada's "Incendies," directed by Denis Villeneuve, which drew applause at the recent Telluride and Toronto film festivals, to Thailand's "Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives," directed by Apichatpong Weerasethakul, which earned the Palme d'Or, the top prize, at this May's Cannes Film Festival.
