Director Andy Fickman, known for such lighthearted fare as "The Game Plan" and "She's the Man," is taking on "The Undomestic Goddess," an adaptation of Sophie Kinsella's best-selling novel.
The book centers on a workaholic female attorney who, believing she wrecked her chances of being named partner at her London firm, has a meltdown and ends up in the English countryside. After stopping at a large house to ask directions, she is mistaken as a candidate for a maid position and takes a housekeeping job.
Universal, which snapped up the book in 2005, is keeping the English setting. At one point, it had Tom Bezucha ("The Family Stone") attached to direct.
Fickman recently wrapped "You Again," a Disney comedy starring Kristen Bell, Sigourney Weaver and Jamie Lee Curtis.
