The China Film Association is accepting submissions for its first Film Script Awards, with the deadline set for the end of December.
Scriptwriters of Chinese films made between January 2008 and October 2009 can send in their works. It is also open to a 13-member committee of film scholars, who can send in their recommendations.
The five winning works will be selected by the association's film literature department and the awards will be given out in January 2010.
Kang Jianmin, chairman of the China Film Association, says the awards are aimed at recognizing scriptwriters and encouraging them to create better works.
A seminar on the award-winning scripts will also be held early next year.
