German actress Diane Kruger, best known for her work in "Troy" and the "National Treasure" movies, has joined the cast of Quentin Tarantino's World War II movie "Inglorious Bastards."

She will play a glamorous German actress, a role that had been pegged for Nastassja Kinski. Tarantino flew to Germany to meet Kinski, but a deal wasn't reached.

"Bastards" revolves around a French girl's revenge on the Nazis and also follows a band of American Nazi killers. Both story lines eventually converge. Kruger's character helps the Nazi hunters infiltrate a movie premiere.

Additionally Til Schweiger ("King Arthur," "Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life") has nabbed a role, playing a member of the Nazi killer team, headed by Brad Pitt's character, Lt. Aldo Raine. Others in the cast include Christoph Waltz, Daniel Bruhl, Eli Roth and Mike Myers.

The Weinstein Co./Universal co-production starts shooting October 13 in Germany, and Tarantino hopes to unveil the movie in May at the Cannes Film Festival, scene of the world premiere of his 1994 smash "Pulp Fiction."
