Zhang Guoli to debut in HK film

Mainland actor Zhang Guoli is the mysterious cast member who had been kept under wraps for crime thriller Lady Cop & Papa Crook.

The film, slated to open next month, is a joint work by Hong Kong filmmakers Alan Mak and Felix Chong, who co-wrote the 2002 phenomenon Infernal Affairs. This will be Zhang's first cooperation with Hong Kong filmmakers, according to Thefirst.cn.

Zhang plays the lead opposite Hong Kong stars Eason Chan, Sammi Cheng and Chapman To.

Although his television drama Golden Wedding was a major hit last year, Zhang has not appeared often on the big screen since starring in Feng Xiaogang's Cell Phone in 2003.

He is confident about his Hong Kong debut. "I believe in the directors and playwrights, because I appreciated Infernal Affairs very much," Zhang was quoted as saying.
