LOS ANGELES - Nicole Kidman is producing a remake of the Marilyn Monroe hit "How to Marry a Millionaire," and may also star in the Fox project.

Plot details for the update are being kept under wraps, but it is described as a complete overhaul of the original story.

The original, a Technicolor comedy that was released by Fox in 1953, vaulted Monroe to stardom. It revolved around three models who use their charm and good looks to lure rich men.

Kidman has a mixed record with remakes, with her recent releases "Bewitched" and "The Stepford Wives" failing to make much of an impact at the box office.

Her Fox-based Blossom Films shingle has several projects in development, including an untitled spy project written by Simon Kinberg ("Mr & Mrs Smith"), and "The Bachelorette Party," based on Karen McCullah Lutz's novel.

The actress, who won an Academy Award for portraying Virginia Woolf in "The Hours," next stars in Warner Bros. Pictures' "The Invasion" and New Line Cinema's "The Golden Compass."
