The star of the Harry Potter films has become the youngest person to earn a place on the list of Britain's richest people. Daniel Radcliffe has amassed a fortune of ¡ê14m - and he is only 17. Top of the latest Sunday Times Rich List is steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, worth an estimated ¡ê13.2bn.

He is followed by Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich, who has seen his fortune grow by more than ¡ê3bn in the last year alone.

The Russian tycoon now sits on a total wealth of almost ¡ê11bn, up from ¡ê7.5bn in the 2005-06 edition of the list.

Away from the battle for the top slot, the list contains evidence that splitting up can be a serious hazard to your financial wealth.

John Charman, one of the stars of the London insurance market, is down to his last ¡ê82m due to a ¡ê48m divorce settlement.

Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney could face the same prospect. His ¡ê825m fortune could be reduced by up to ¡ê200m as a result of his bitter separation from Heather Mills.

This year it takes ¡ê5.5m to make it into the top 5,000.

West Country songstress Joss Stone at number 4,879 scrapes in as the youngest woman, aged 19.

The Queen is down to 15th place in the top 100 of the UK's wealthiest women, behind the likes of JK Rowling and Lady Tina Green, who, with ¡ê4.9bn, is the richest woman.

Among the celebrities dotted through the list are David and Victoria Beckham with a combined wealth of ¡ê87m.

And despite Coleen McLoughlin's high profile spending sprees, she and Wayne Rooney have seen their wealth rise from ¡ê6m to ¡ê20m.
