Madonna's next venue could collapse | Nodar
Kancheli, who designed the canopy roof of the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow where
the pop star is playing on September 12, told the Ekho Moskvy radio station that
tens of thousands of lives could be in danger if the show goes ahead.
He warned that the concert might be too loud for the building to withstand
the vibrations.
He said: "The stadium could collapse if audio frequency resonates with the
vibration frequency of the building. The sound waves could damage the
structure."
Kancheli's past record also does not bode well for the American singer. He
was the architect of the Transvaal Water Park in the Russian capital which
collapsed in 2004, killing 28 people. He was found guilty of criminal negligence
but this week was given an amnesty.
The Luzhniki Stadium can hold 84,745 people and is the biggest sports stadium
in Russia. It was the main venue for the 1980 Summer Olympics.
