Christina Aguilera goes 'Back to Basics'

On August 15, RCA Records will release Christina Aguilera's new double CD, Back To Basics. The collection is described as a "wildly inventive modern take on vintage jazz, soul and blues from the 1920s, '30s and '40s."

Christina adds, "This is a concept album that follows a bold, set vision. The touchstones are Billie Holiday, Otis Redding, Etta James and Ella Fitzgerald...what I used to call my 'fun music' when I was a little girl." The album's first single is "Ain't No Other Man."

Christina Aguilera says the driving ambition behind her new album was to return to the music that has inspired her as she grew up.

The album fittingly entitled 'Back to Basics' takes influences from Blues, Jazz, and Soul music.

Christina said: "I wanted to do my own take on what that would be. I didn't want to take the easy way out and do any covers or things like that.

"I really wanted to go back in time and dive into those areas of the incredible Blues singers and jazz musicians.

"Taking a direction from that exciting time visually as well, using a lot of the old screen sirens and Hollywood glam stares; it was just a fun feel good time of music and beauty, so I wanted to incorporate that in the next album and that's what back to basics is basically about."
