Art offers glimpse of French culture

Fans of French artist Georges Braque in China have the chance to appreciate his masterpieces, which are touring Chinese cities.

Braque was a major figure of the Cubism art movement of the 20th century alongside Pablo Picasso.

The first stop at Beijing Imperial City Art Museum features nearly 200 exhibits the artist created with myriad materials and mediums, ranging from watercolor paintings to metal sculptures, installations, carpets, jewelry and adornment pieces.

The exhibition is likely to lure in an artistically inclined crowd who are eager to catch a closer glimpse of French culture.

Those with smart phones can scan a two-dimensional bar code at the entrance of the exhibition to view the 3D images of Braque's exhibited works on their devices.

The exhibition is made possible by the Center for International Cultural Exchanges under the Ministry of Culture, the French company DSTAR, French Institute and French Embassy in Beijing.

After its Beijing debut, the exhibition will move to Art Museum of the Nanjing University of the Arts, where the exhibits will be on view from Nov 23-Dec 20.

10 am-5 pm, until Oct 12. Beijing Imperial City Art Museum, 9 Changpu Heyan, Dongcheng district, near Tian'anmen Square, Beijing. 010- 8511-5114.
