The cost of television sets made in China is expected to go down, as more domestic liquid crystal displays will hit the market next year.

Sigmaintell Consulting Co, a Beijing-based company specializing in the panel industry, predicted in a report that more than 40 percent of LCD panels in China’s television manufacturing industry will be domestically produced in 2014.

At least three high-generation assembly lines will be put into mass production, including a production line in Hefei, Anhui province, and two others owned by LG Display and Samsung Electronics Co.

The output of China’s LCD manufacturing industry, which already ranked second worldwide, will increase 6 percent in 2014 year-on-year, reaching around 53.93 million units, according to the Sigmaintell report. Panels exports will reach 60.3 million units, it said.
