BEIJING - Tightened measures to regulate use of military vehicles have reduced traffic violations by such cars by over 50 percent, according to the China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) Daily.

As of the end of October, traffic violations by cars of the PLA and armed police had fallen by 54.1 percent on a year-on-year basis, said a report in the Tuesday edition of the newspaper.

To better manage military vehicles, the PLA authorities have set up and improved an information sharing system with the public security authorities to check the use of military cars outside bases via the police's traffic monitoring network, the report said.

It added that training for drivers of such cars has also been strengthened.

The military has launched a series of measures to curb military car misuses since late 2012. From May this year, it adopted new military vehicle plates in a bid to strengthen the regulation.
