BEIJING - South East Motor, an automotive joint venture between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, will recall 171,093 defective V3 Lingyue, China's quality watchdog announced on Monday.

Starting from February 10, 2014, the recall will involve 171,093 vehicles produced between April 1, 2009 and September 22, 2011, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement.

The dust cover of the hand brake line of the defective vehicles may crack, which will affect the proper working of the vehicles and cause safety problems, the statement said.

The manufacturer will offer free checks and replace the hand brake line of the recalled cars.
