Surgeons remove 200 grams of kidney stones

Surgeons in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, have removed 200 grams of kidney stones from a 66-year-old man, according to West China Metropolis Daily.

Twenty years ago the man from Ziyang underwent a successful minor operation after he was diagnosed with kidney stones.

In 2002, doctors found the stones had returned but he did not have an operation and instead tried natural methods, such as diet change, to get rid of them.

But in October the intense pain returned. Surgeons in the Chengdu No 3 People's Hospital found his kidneys were full of stones and were close to failure.

It took surgeons more than seven hours to remove them.
