Paramount Pictures and China Movie Channel announced on Thursday that the movie Transformers: Age of Extinction will have some scenes filmed in Wulong county in Chongqing.

"We are delighted to include the natural beauty and extraordinary geography of China in Transformers: Age of Extinction," said Adam Goodman, president of Paramount Film Group. "Michael Bay has filmed at some of the most unique and memorable locations on the planet, including the Pyramids in Egypt and Petra in Jordan, both designated as Wonders of the World, and now the beautiful mountains and special landscape of Wulong, China."

The Wulong landscape to be filmed for the Hollywood blockbuster is located 130 kilometers southeast of Chongqing. It is the sixth World Natural Heritage Site in China.

"In addition to strong humanity and modern cities like Beijing, it is important to show the world the original ecology and natural landscape of China through major movies in a very natural and intuitive way," said Liang Longfei, vice-president of M1905.com, the official website of China Movie Channel.

China Movie Channel has been cooperating with Paramount Pictures in support of the movie's production in China. The shooting in Wulong is expected to begin on Oct 28 and will finish in early November.

The Transformers movie series is among the most popular Hollywood blockbusters ever released in China. The third film of the series, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which was released in 2011, raked in $165 million in China and more than $1.124 billion worldwide. The latest in the series is scheduled to be released in China around June 27, 2014.
